The obj3ctive -

Kaia, the Japanese restaurant at The Ned’s London, sought to introduce a serene cherry blossom adorned window installation that would enhance the dining atmosphere during Sakura season, while respecting the building’s historic architecture.

To accompany this, they also wanted a small print run of menus with the same colouring and Sakura imagery, to elevate the overall experience and make it cohesive for their patrons.

The objective of the window install was to deliver a refined, elegant visual feature that complemented the restaurant’s aesthetic without compromising the integrity of the original, 100-year-old windows or disrupting daily operations.

Solution

Collaborating with the team to scale the artwork, we produced and installed three bespoke Sakura vinyl window films printed on removable optically clear vinyl and CNC kiss-cut to shape.

Each upper windowpane required individual preparation, as the circular arched tops resulted in varying dimensions across every panel.

Printed using Metamark premium materials on our Canon Colorado printer, the films achieved exceptional colour accuracy, and contrast between opacity and translucency.

Installation was carried out overnight at midnight, with our team working six metres above floor level and completing the full installation in six hours, ensuring zero disruption to restaurant operations.

Impact

The finished installation delivers a subtle yet impactful Sakura design that elevates Kaia’s interior ambience while preserving the character of the historic glazing. The precision fit across irregular window shapes reinforces the craftsmanship behind the project, while the removable vinyl provides flexibility for future updates.

The finished windows produced a soft, translucent finish which allowed light to permeate while giving a pink, hazy glow both internally and externally.

The result is a calm, immersive visual feature that enhances the guest experience and aligns seamlessly with The Ned’s luxury and heritage setting.
